Inaugural Kurdish book fair draws massive crowds despite severe regional crisis
The specialized cultural exhibition achieves record breaking sales after regional conflict cancels the traditional international event
The newly launched Kurdish book exhibition achieved extraordinary success by selling over thirty seven thousand books this week. Organizers hosted this monumental cultural event at the famous Erbil international fairground inside Sami Abdul Rahman park recently. The massive public turnout clearly demonstrates the profound resilience of local citizens during ongoing and severe regional security disruptions.
Officials specifically created this localized exhibition after conflict forced the total cancellation of the traditional international book fair. The rescheduled event proudly features more than one hundred thirty prominent publishers from across the entire Kurdistan region. Participating literary organizations arrived from Iranian Kurdistan, eastern Turkiye, and various European nations to support the historic gathering.
Enthusiastic visitors discovered nearly one million copies of diverse literary works displayed throughout the large exhibition halls. The entire cultural event operates under the inspiring promotional banner which states writing in Kurdish and thinking in Kurdish. This highly successful debut establishes Erbil as a thriving center for literary preservation despite challenging geopolitical circumstances.
