Salem Gospel Hall in Aberdeen, which has been a place of worship for nearly 80 years, has been put up for sale.

Located in the Jasmine Terrace area, just off of King Street, it is on the market for offers over £50,000.

The chance to buy it has been described as a “fantastic opportunity”, with a variety of potential uses suggested.

Used as a place of worship since 1949, the premises has been maintained to a “high standard”.

Plenty of options for change of use

The building could be turned into a community centre, but a number of alternative uses, including a business (subject to change of use) are suggested.

They include:

  • A restaurant/cafe
  • Retail
  • A storage facility

It is believed the building would also be suitable for conversion into residential accommodation, though that would be subject to satisfactory planning consents.

The property underwent a significant upgrade about ten years ago and is believed to comply with current fire and safety regulations.

In terms of the building layout, a “welcoming” hallway leads to the main worship hall, which is brightly lit and decorated in neutral tones.

Sliding doors give way to a “good-sized” storage cupboard.

The kitchen area is again light and bright.

Just off the hall is a kitchen with a washing and drying area.

The kitchen has been described as being “perfect” for the preparation of light refreshments, teas and coffees.

A unisex disabled access WC includes a two-piece white suite, while a door opens up from the main hall and leads to a staircase.

There is a disused kitchen area under the staircase, which is no longer in operation but could be used for additional storage.

‘A rare opportunity that seldom presents itself to the open market’

On the upper level, there is “substantial” attic space, which was previously utilised for storage.

Aberdeen-based estate agents Laurie & Co said: “This is a rare opportunity which seldom presents itself to the open market.

“Internal viewing of the premises is highly recommended.”
