President Nechirvan Barzani meets with State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany

President Nechirvan Barzani received Dr. Géza Andreas von Geyr, State Secretary of the German Federal Foreign Office, along with his accompanying delegation.

Their discussions focused on enhancing relations between Germany, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, recent political developments in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the dynamics of Erbil-Baghdad relations, and the overall situation in the region.

The visiting delegation emphasized Germany’s strong commitment to the stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, expressing their intent to further expand cooperation across various sectors.

In response, President Nechirvan Barzani expressed gratitude to Germany for its ongoing support and assistance to the Kurdistan Region in all areas, highlighting the significance of resolving issues peacefully and upholding peace in the region.

Another topic of discussion was the threat posed by ISIS and the circumstances in Syria, along with several other matters of mutual interest. The German Ambassador to Iraq and the Consul General of Germany in the Kurdistan Region were also present at the meeting.
