Inverness butchers to close as owners announce retirement: ‘It was the best in the city’
Hastie & Dyce Butchers in Inverness will close on March 28, as the owners prepare to retire.

Two Inverness butchers are hanging up their aprons as they head into retirement.

Stephen Hastie and James Dyce, owners of Hastie & Dyce Butchers, have traded from the city’s Victorian Market since 1992.

But the family-run business is to close within weeks as they call time on a long career in the trade.

Doors will open for the final time on Saturday March 28.

Taking to social media on Tuesday morning, the team described it as a “bittersweet feeling”.

“As a lot of you may already know, Stephen and James are retiring, and unfortunately, this means that the shop will be closing.

“Our last day of trading is Saturday 28th March.

“It is a bit of a bittersweet feeling, but it is time for the aprons to be hung up.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, old and new, for your support over the years.

“Would also like to wish Stephen and James a happy and healthy retirement. It is very much deserved.

“Once again, thank you all for the support and custom. It has always been very much appreciated.

“We hope to see some faces in before the last day on the 28th.”

Julie Wright also wished the team well, writing: “Sad news guys, great butchers, good quality and reasonably priced with great staff.

“Happy retirement to you both Stevie and James.”

Zalea Mackenzie said: “Best Butchers in town.

“My mum used you for years, and so did I.
