Ross County make sixth summer signing by snapping up ‘goalscoring midfielder’
Woking midfielder with two years of experience in the Scottish Championship is the next arrival in Dingwall for head coach Stuart Kettlewell.
Ross County have signed Woking central midfielder Jack Turner, who has proved he has an eye for goal in the Scottish Championship.
The 23-year-old has been confirmed as County’s sixth summer signing as he joins from the English National League club.
Southampton academy product Turner, who scored five goals and had four assists in his sole season with Woking last term, scored 18 goals over the previous two years with Queen’s Park in Scotland’s second tier.
Jack has shown a ‘real willingness to be part of the next chapter’
Kettlewell outlined why County have added him to their squad as they seek to respond to their relegation into League One.
He said: “Jack is a really exciting addition to our team.
“He has great pedigree coming through the set up at Southampton, but has then importantly gone on to prove himself at a good level after that.
“Jack is a goalscoring midfielder whose numbers over the past few seasons are particularly impressive.
“He has two seasons of crucial experience playing in Scotland, making 90 appearances, so he is no stranger to the style and standards.
“Jack’s attitude and ability will fit in well, and he’s shown real willingness to be part of the next chapter.
“I’m delighted to have Jack here and look forward to working with him.”
Since being relegated from the Championship at the start of May, manager Kettlewell has beeen reshaping his squad to be ready for League One.
Contracts were not renewed for goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw, defenders Declan Gallagher and Alex Iacovitti, winger Jay Henderson and forwards Jordan White and Uche Ikpeazu.
Defender/midfielder Ben Crompton also left the club earlier this week.
And in have come ex-Morton and Airdrieonians left-back Lewis Strapp, former Championship and League Cup-winning County striker Brian Graham, right winger Luke McCarvel from League Two Kelty Hearts, Stranraer defender Lewis Reid, and recent release from Dunfermline Athletic, Chris Hamilton.
Jay Henderson, meanwhile, is close to signing for Northern Irish side Coleraine, according to the Daily Record.
The 24-year-old ex-St Mirren player is a free agent after leaving County and is expected to join the UEFA Conference League entrants on his return from holiday.
Former Staggies’ press officer Dale Pryde-MacDonald is now chief executive of Coleraine, who finished just three points behind champions Larne in last season’s NIFL Premiership.
