Areas around al-Hasakah city (in al-Hasakah governorate, northeastern Syria) saw reciprocal withdrawals from the frontlines today, Thursday, 12 February, following earlier pullouts in recent days from other locations.

In recent days, the agreement’s administrative and security clauses have begun to take effect, most notably the appointment of an al-Hasakah governor nominated by the SDF, and the entry of dozens of the Syrian government’s Internal Security Forces into the cities of al-Hasakah and al-Qamishli .

Government delegations also visited al-Qamishli Airport and the Rmeilan oil fields in preparation for resuming operations.

Withdrawals from al-Hasakah entry points

Farhad Shami, director of the SDF’s media center, said his forces have begun implementing the military provisions, including the withdrawal of military forces from inside cities.

Today, a repositioning operation was carried out along the al-Hasakah, al-Hawl road and on the outskirts of Tal Brak town , in the eastern and northern countryside of al-Hasakah.

Forces withdrew from these areas gradually, with the aim of returning to their pre-war positions.

In the same context, the SDF’s Internal Security Forces (Asayish) deployed to areas vacated by the withdrawal, including al-Hasakah’s eastern entry points and the surroundings of Tal Brak. Syrian government Internal Security Forces were also deployed inside Tal Brak.

Removal of earth bermsat al-Hasakah’s eastern entrance

Enab Baladi’s correspondent in al-Hasakah said the SDF withdrew heavy military vehicles from the school in al-Ma’ruf village, near al-Hasakah’s eastern entrance, which the SDF had used as a military barracks and checkpoint since the start of the latest military operations in the area.

Earthen berms that had been built around the school were also removed, signaling that implementation of the agreement’s military provisions has begun in earnest.

By the end of the day, the withdrawal is expected to be completed from several military points in northern and eastern al-Hasakah, specifically in Tal Brak.

Internal Security Forces are also expected to deploy to locations vacated by the Syrian army and the SDF, with the Asayish moving into areas previously under SDF control, while Syrian government Internal Security Forces will be deployed to areas that were under the Syrian army’s control.

The “30 January” agreement

The 30 January 2026 agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF is part of broader efforts to restore security and political balance in the region.

The agreement includes multiple military and administrative clauses aimed at reducing tensions between the two sides and promoting stability in the area.
