President Nechirvan Barzani meets with a US congressional delegation

President Nechirvan Barzani continued his engagements at the Munich Security Conference, holding a meeting with US Senator Lindsey Graham and a delegation of congressional members.
Their discussions focused on the relationship between the US and Iraq, as well as the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the enhancement of cooperation. The President conveyed the Kurdistan Region’s appreciation for the continued support of the United States and Congress for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
The US congressional delegation emphasized the Kurdistan Region’s vital role as a stabilizing presence and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Iraq, the Kurdistan Region’s constitutional standing, and efforts to resolve disputes between Erbil and Baghdad while maintaining peace and stability across the country.
The discussion also covered developments in Syria, particularly concerning the Kurdish people. President Nechirvan Barzani and the US congressional delegation both emphasized the importance of safeguarding the rights of Kurds and other communities within both the current and any future constitutional framework of a united Syria.
Another key topic of discussion was the latest security developments and the threat posed by terrorism.
