President Barzani, Turkish FM hold phone call

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke on the phone on Monday, reported Turkish state media. 

Anadolu Agency cited unnamed sources from the Turkish foreign ministry as saying Barzani and Fidan discussed the “latest developments” in the region.

The Turkish foreign ministry and the Kurdish presidency have yet to comment on the meeting. 

The Kurdistan Region accounts for the majority of Turkish trade and investments in Iraq. Turkish companies make up more than half the foreign companies in the Kurdistan Region, where thousands of Turkish businessmen, investors and workers are doing business.
 
The trade volume between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey stands at over five billion dollars a year.
