President Nechirvan Barzani and Italian Foreign Minister discuss regional developments

President Nechirvan Barzani held a phone call with Antonio Tajani, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss the recent developments in the region and the implications of the war for regional and global security and stability.
President Nechirvan Barzani strongly condemned last night’s attack on an Italian military base in the Kurdistan Region. He also emphasized the necessity for the Iraqi government to uphold its duty to safeguard diplomatic representatives and coalition forces, insisting that rogue groups must not be permitted to jeopardize the country’s security and interests.
The Italian Foreign Minister also condemned the attack, reiterating that Italy will continue its support and assistance to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all possible ways to address challenges, confront terrorist threats, and enhance their joint efforts to ensure peace and stability.
President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his gratitude to Italy for its ongoing support and assistance to the Kurdistan Region, commending the contributions of its forces within the framework of the international coalition.
