Ross County snap up ‘exciting winger’ from Kelty Hearts
The Staggies are understood to be keen on making a third summer signing after Lewis Strapp and Brian Graham checked into Dingwall.
Stuart Kettlewell expects latest Ross County signing Luke McCarvel to get fans “on the edge of their seats”.
The 21-year-old winger becomes the Staggies third summer signing following on from ex-Morton and Airdrieonians left-back Lewis Strapp and returning League Cup and Championship striker Brian Graham.
McCarvel joins County for an undisclosed fee from League One side Kelty Hearts, with the Dingwall team also in the third tier after being relegated from the Championship earlier this month, their second successive drop having come down from the Premiership last May.
The former Cumbernauld Colts player joined Kelty in June 2024 and last season he played 41 times, netting two goals while providing five assists for his teammates.
McCarvel offers pace and power
County head coach Kettlewell explained what his third signing of the close season will offer the Highlanders.
He said: “Luke is an exciting young talent, and one that I am really pleased to welcome to the club.
“He has real ability and was a standout with Kelty Hearts, showing on a weekly basis how much potential he has.
“Luke brings pace and power to our forward line, as well as the ability to provide goals and assists – he is a player who will get fans excited and on the edge of their seats.
“I look forward to Luke being part of the future with us, and I’m confident he is a player who our fans will enjoy watching.”
County in frame for Raith Rovers winger Chin
County, meanwhile, are thought to be keen to sign Raith Rovers right winger Richard Chin, who is under contract at Kirkcaldy for one more season.
The 23-year-old wide player, who can also play at full-back, was snapped up by Rovers last summer on a two-year deal after leaving National League South side Farnborough for the Championship side.
He played 29 times for Raith last season, including in the final night’s 3-2 win against County which sent the Staggies down in bottom place, their second successive relegation.
However, all but one of his appearances have been as a substitute and he has been looking for more starts under boss Dougie Imrie.
The former Charlton Athletic youngster, who made his international debut for Malaysia last year, has been linked to a move to Dingwall in the past.
According to The Courier the Rovers player is a target for County, with the chance of more first-team action opportunities central to his decision.
County have so far signed ex-Morton and Airdrieonians left-back Lewis Strapp and brought experienced forward Brian Graham back to the Global Energy Stadium for a third spell.
The need for pace and energy in League One is high in the minds of Kettlewell, which fits in with his bid to land Chin.
