Aberdeen striker Marko Lazetic attracting transfer interest from two European leagues
Lazetic, 22, wants to leave Aberdeen, and with Stephen Robinson having already said this would be 'best for both parties', interest is hotting up in the striker.
Wantaway Aberdeen striker Marko Lazetic is attracting transfer interest from suitors in Sweden and Switzerland, The Press and Journal understands.
While outfits in Sweden’s Allsvenskan and the Swiss Super League are weighing up a move for Lazetic, it is understood they have yet to open talks with Aberdeen over the 22-year-old Serbian.
Lazetic would prefer a permanent move away from the Reds, but this is likely to impeded by his length of contract, with interested clubs unlikely to stump up a suitable fee.
A loan move, with an option-to-buy built in, is more likely.
With the summer transfer window now open, Aberdeen sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel is working to reduce the numbers in a bloated Dons squad, and will work with Lazetic’s camp to find a solution.
Lazetic not in Robinson’s Aberdeen plans
Despite only signing from Italian giants AC Milan last year on a deal to 2029, Lazetic, who made 10 Premiership starts and scored four league goals in his debut Dons season – including the Reds’ goal of the season against St Mirren – was behind Kevin Nisbet and now-permanent signing Toyosi Olusanya in the pecking order under boss Stephen Robinson at the end of the campaign.
He feels he is unlikely to be part of Pittodrie plans going into the new season, something also implied by head coach Robinson publicly.
March-appointed Robinson, whose squad is being rebuilt this summer after a disappointing 2025/26 Dons campaign, has said it would be “best for both parties” if Lazetic did move on in the transfer window.
Robinson added a Lazetic exit was something Aberdeen would “look at”.
Lazetic was signed under previous manager Jimmy Thelin and only two of his Premiership starts have come under Robinson.
He did not feature after a high-profile half-time hooking in a defeat at Robinson’s former side St Mirren in April.
Lazetic – who commanded a 4million euro fee when Milan bought him from Red Star Belgrade in 2022 – was subsequently left on the bench for the vital home league wins against Hibs and Kilmarnock, as well as the draw at Livingston, as Aberdeen secured their top-flight status.
The striker missed the final three matches of the season due to returning home to Serbia amid a family health situation.
