Iraq’s State Administration Coalition, chaired by Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi, has discussed preparations for the premier’s upcoming visit to Washington, where he is expected to meet with President Donald Trump, while reaffirming support for the government’s anti-corruption campaign and broader state reform efforts.

The meeting in Baghdad brought together Iraq’s three presidencies and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, highlighting a rare show of political unity ahead of the high-profile US visit.

According to a release, participants discussed how to make the most of Al-Zaidi’s Washington visit in terms of Iraq’s national interests, strategic relationships, and international collaboration.

The alliance also expressed its complete support for the government’s anti-corruption effort, emphasizing that investigations should continue within the confines of the law while increasing openness and accountability.

Leaders also stressed the need of limiting weapons possession to the state, upholding the rule of law, defending Iraq’s constitutional institutions, and preserving the country’s sovereignty.

Al-Zaidi’s upcoming meeting with Trump is anticipated to concentrate on bilateral ties, economic cooperation, security, energy, and Iraq’s continuing reform program, making it one of the new government’s most important diplomatic engagements since taking office.
