President Nechirvan Barzani meets Asaad al-Shaibani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria

On the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad al-Shaibani.

Their discussions focused on Syria’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as recent developments in Syria and their implications for regional peace and stability. Both sides emphasized the necessity of addressing the Syrian crisis and safeguarding the rights of all communities.

The meeting also addressed the humanitarian conditions of refugees and the advancement of national dialogue aimed at fostering a stable future for the country. Minister al-Shaibani commended the leadership of the Kurdistan Region for its role in the agreement between Damascus and the SDF, its support for refugees, and its commitment to maintaining stability in the region.

President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his wishes for success, peace, and stability for Syria and underscored the importance of ensuring Kurdish rights in the future constitution of a unified Syria.
