Alfie Bavidge has revealed he will be released by Aberdeen at the end of the season – with the striker hinting he would be interested in a permanent switch to loan club Caley Thistle.

Bavidge, 19, who came through the Aberdeen youth academy and has made five appearances for the first-team, confirmed he will be a free agent when his Dons deal expires this summer.

He said: “I’ve been told my contract won’t be renewed so my future will lie elsewhere from Pittodrie.

“I’m loving it at Inverness. The club is amazing.

“All the people and staff are terrific.”

Frontman Bavidge made it 18 goals in 34 appearances (19 starts) for ICT this term on Saturday, scoring the winner against embattled Hamilton in a 1-0 win at Broadwoodto extend table-topping Inverness‘ League One lead to five points.

Bavidge added: “It was good for results going well elsewhere, but we are mainly focused on what we can do.

“We are keeping our heads down and if we focus on our business we will be in a good place.

“Hamilton might be third bottom before the start, but we knew it was going to be a hard game and they have really good players.

“Our resilience throughout the 90 minutes throughout the whole team was fantastic, especially in the second half.

“It is a tough place to come as they hadn’t lost at home since mid-November.”

Bavidge paid tribute to the service he gets from Caley Thistle team-mate Ben Brannan and the set-piece provision of Paul Allan.

“We like to get the ball down and play football, and we will take any goals whether its a tap-in or a set-piece, as long as the goals are coming and we get the three points,” added Bavidge.

“The back line defended amazingly and it gives us confidence up front that we have that to back us up.”

Bavidge insists he doesn’t set himself any goalscoring targets.

He went on: “It might sound cliched, but I don’t set any targets – I just take it game by game.

“I didn’t even know how many goals I was on before this week. I try to score as many as I can in every game I play.”

The striker also admitted that his other goal is to stay fit and healthy, in a young career which has been interrupted by a few injury issues.

He added: “I’ve been unlucky with injuries, but so far this has changed this season.

“Being at Caley on loan from Aberdeen has given me a new lease of life.

“We have a massive game on Saturday at home to Stenhousemuir, our nearest challengers.

“It is a match we are all thoroughly looking forward to.”
