Toilets have been delivered to St Fittick’s Park by the council after travellers set up camp there earlier this week.

Several caravans made their way onto the council-owned land near Torry at the weekend.

Local residents said the caravans just appeared suddenly and raised concerns about the use of public space.

The park is frequently used by dog walkers and families.

A video obtained by The Press and Journal shows portable toilets being trucked into the park for use by the travellers.

An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson confirmed that they were supplying the travellers with facilities.

The council also said court action would be taken against the travellers to have them removed.

A spokesperson said: “The encampment at St Fittick’s Park was visited on Monday morning and court action is being progressed in accordance with Aberdeen City Council Policy and Procedure. The area will be monitored in the meantime.

“Skips and toilet facilities will be in place as soon as possible.”
