Cove Rangers hope to land more young Aberdeen players on loan
Cove boss Paul Hartley keen to continue loan arrangement with the Dons next season.
Cove Rangers boss Paul Hartley hopes the club’s strong record of developing Aberdeen loanees will help attract more Dons youngsters to Balmoral Stadium next season.
The League One side has had six young Dons on loan in the last two seasons and all of them have made an impact at the club while gaining valuable competitive minutes under their belts.
Former Dons captain Hartley is eager to continue the arrangement when the new season gets under way.
He said: “I hope we’ll get a few from Aberdeen and I think we’ve got a lot to offer here.
“Look at the last six players we’ve had from them. You go back to Findlay Marshall, Adam Emslie and Dylan Lobban and then more recently Lewis Carrol, Cooper Masson and Joseph Teasdale.
“They all got good minutes with us, played their part and they’ve all done great when they have played.
“Dylan’s played in the first team, played in Europe and earned a new deal.
“Marsh has shown he can play in the Championship then gone back and won a new deal. Ads got a move then came back to us.
“The three young lads we’ve just had are highly-rated at the club too so, it’s been very positive for us.
“It’s definitely helped them so hopefully we can get some players out of Aberdeen.”
The Cove boss has strengthened his squad with the signing of full back Victor Enem following his departure from Arbroath while attacker Max Barry has joined the club after his contract expired at Peterhead.
Hartley believes both can play a big part next season.
He said: “They bring energy, youth and enthusiasm.
“Max knows the league, he’s played in it. We actually tried getting him before he went to Peterhead a couple of years ago, but we missed out on him.
“He brings a wee bit of quality in the final third and he can play a couple of positions. He’s got a wee bit of build, which I like, and he can play in the number 10 or on the side.
“Victor went to the Championship, played some games, got some minutes.
“He brings good energy and he can get up and down the pitch.
“We’re going to be a young team this year so, we’re going to need as much energy and pace in the team as we can get, and hopefully we can get some experienced players in to help us.”
