Trump wins golf championship and mocks opponents: ‘I have talent, they don’t!’

Donald Trump mocked his rivals’ supposed lack of talent after celebrating another two championships at his New Jersey golf course on Sunday, claiming “I have it, and they don’t!”

The US president posted on social media a video of the apparent “winning shot” at Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster. He says he won this year’s Super Senior and Senior categories.

Trump has now claimed to have won more than 40 titles across his portfolio of golf courses, although he has also been dogged by allegations of cheating in recent years.

Posting on Sunday, the president claimed he secured his latest trophy with a two-under-par round of 70.

He posted on Truth Social: “I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!”

The video posted with the message showed Trump’s approach to the green, taking two practice swings before hitting the ball and bringing it to an abrupt stop, with it checking on the third bounce.

A second video, posted by Ron Filipkowski, Meidas editor-in-chief, showed Trump receiving the winners’ trophy and given a standing ovation for what is claimed to have been his 43rd club championship.

The Senior Men’s Club Championship at Bedminster is generally made up of men aged 50 years or older, with the Super Senior category for those aged 65 and older. Trump also won both titles in 2023, according to Bedminster’s PGA Club Championship page, as well as the senior title in 2024.

Upon his victory in 2023, Trump said: “For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete – I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honor!”

Accusations of cheating, however, have dogged Trump’s golfing career. Sports writer Rick Reilly wrote a book titled Commander in Cheat which focused on allegations surrounding his golf exploits, while actor Samuel L Jackson accused Trump of cheating at golf in 2016.

In his book, Reilly wrote: “At Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, the caddies got so used to seeing him kick his ball back onto the fairway they came up with a nickname for him: Pele.”

Trump faced further accusations when a video emerged from his Turnberry course in Scotland where his caddy walked ahead and appeared to drop his ball closer to the hole, which the president then approached to play.

The president has previously denied cheating when it comes to golf.
