Aberdeen tourist bus door smashed as thieves target nearby car park

A coach set to take a group of international tourists around Scotland was broken into in Aberdeen last night.

The Globus tour bus was parked overnight behind His Majesty’s Theatre on Woolmanhill, with suspected thieves smashing the front door’s window in.

Police arrived on the scene just after 7.30am on Monday, where smashed glass covered the pavement.

It is understood that nothing of value was left on the coach overnight, with the break-in leading to delays in the group’s scheduled tour.

Alongside this, a car was also targeted at the nearby Denburn Car Park.

Officers were spotted warning drivers inside this morning.

Police investigating Aberdeen tour bus break-in

The Press and Journal arrived at the scene on Monday to find police inspecting the smashed-up bus.

The Globus coach had been scheduled to take a group of 44 tourists to Scone Palace in Perth today, with that trip now understood to be delayed.

These visitors were mainly made up of Americans, Australians and New Zealanders, who were staying at the nearby Sandman Hotel.

Around the corner, a car had also been broken into at the Denburn Car Park.

A golf bag could be seen next to the smashed window of the car surrounded by shattered glass, with balls flung across the concrete floor.

Police Scotland has been approached for comment.
