Caley Thistle have signed Swansea City striker Morgan Bates on loan for next season as the club makes its return to the Championship.

The 19-year-old joined the English Championship club’s academy from Briton Ferry Llansawel and signed a scholarship with the Welsh side in September 2024.

The Welsh-born attacker scored 22 goals across Swansea’s under-18 and under-21 sides during the 2024-25 season, earning a new contract with the club.

Last season, he featured prominently for their under-21s, finishing as their top scorer with 23 goals.

With Chanka Zimba having left, Aberdeen loanee Alfie Bavidge signing a deal with the Dons, and Billy Mckay considering stepping back from playing, Bates adds vital options up front for the League One champions.

Speaking about his move, he said: “It’s amazing. This move has been on my mind for a while. When my agent told me about the opportunity, I immediately felt this was the club I wanted to join.

“It was my goal to gain first team experience this season, and the attraction of coming here was the way the team plays, the club itself, and the area. Everything has come together really well.”

Bates joins Graeme Shinnie, Liam Sole and Noa Boutin as the summer arrivals at Inverness.
