President Nechirvan Barzani receives the British Ambassador to Iraq today in Erbil

President Nechirvan Barzani received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mr Irfan Siddiq, along with his accompanying delegation in Erbil today.

Both sides commended the strong relations between the United Kingdom, Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, emphasising the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation across all sectors.

They regarded the successful conduct of the Iraqi parliamentary elections as a significant milestone for the advancement of democracy and improving the political process within the country as a whole. President Barzani and Mr Siddiq also shared their perspectives on the formation of the new Iraqi federal government in Baghdad. 

They also discussed internal circumstances in the Kurdistan Region and other matters of mutual interest.
