President Nechirvan Barzani receives a message from the European Union Ambassador

In the message, the EU Ambassador to Iraq, along with the embassies of EU member states, strongly condemned the attack carried out today on President Nechirvan Barzani’s residence in Duhok. They also expressed relief that the attack resulted in no casualties.

The EU Ambassador noted that such irresponsible acts of violence risk further escalating the already sensitive situation in Iraq, particularly in the Kurdistan Region. He emphasized that the perpetrators must be brought to justice, stressing that any attack against state institutions, officials representing Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, or diplomatic missions constitutes a criminal act and cannot be justified.

At the conclusion of the message, all parties were called upon to support efforts aimed at finding peaceful solutions within Iraq and to back diplomatic initiatives to end conflicts in the region.

For his part, President Nechirvan Barzani expressed his appreciation for the message and the stance of the European Union Ambassador and EU member states in condemning the attack and supporting stability and peace.
